35 Quick Study Tips

When I was studying for exams I just wanted a quick list of things I could do to make my time more effective. So here is 50 quick study tips! Check out 4 top Tips for Studying here as well!

1. Make a study schedule. And stick to it, study schedules can make using your time effective much easier.


2. Make flashcards. Flashcards can be a really helpful way to retain information and they can be used again and again with other people to make sure you know the facts.


3. Do past papers. Past papers put your mind into that position where you are tested on real examples and then there is the mark scheme to talk you through anything you couldn't do and prepare you for the real exam.


4. Get enough sleep. Don't stay up late revising because it doesn't help much just make sure you get your normal amount of sleep each night.


5. Use earphones. Study playlists and music can really help you focus but don't use music that you want to sing too, as this will only distract you.


6. Colour code your notes. Colour coding helps highlight key information to focus on.


7. Eat breakfast. Breakfast is very important to start of day and give you energy to study.


8. Don't leave it till the last minute. Last minute cramming isn't an effective studying method.


9. Take short breaks. Studying for more than an hour without a break becomes unproductive.


10. Study in blocks. Blocks require focus and set amounts of working time.


11. Ask for help. If you need support don't be afraid to ask teachers or friends for it.


12. Exercise. Exercise can really help you clear your mind and can improve efficiency of studying.


13. Record yourself. If you are trying to remember something specifically or a passage this can be effective.


14. Good lighting. If a room is well lit it becomes a more positive space and easier to see your notes.


15. Try to start studying early. Having more time means you won't be as stressed trying to fit in all the content towards the end.


16. Eat healthy food. Healthy food genuinely makes you feel better and less uncomfortable.


17. Use mind maps. This is especially effective for visual learners and can be stuck on walls and can be very helpful.


18. Treat yourself. Rewards when you finish each time block or chapter makes you want to finish it quicker.


19. Use textbooks. Exam issue textbooks ensure you know all the content that is on the papers.


20. Drink lots of water. Keep hydrated and healthy.


21. Read over your notes. Reading over notes solidifies them.


22. Set study goals. Goals makes it easier to study as you know you are working towards something.


23. Stay positive. I know it's easier said than done but if your attitude is not right then you won't make much progress.


24. Study with your friends. Provides support.


25. Use a tutor. Hiring tutors can significantly help you improve.


26. Use study apps. Apps that help you track progress can really help.


27. Use youtube videos. This can be especially helpful with science and maths using Primrose Kitten or FreeScienceLessons and MrBruff for English especially for English Literature.


28. Use diagrams. Especially helpful for visual learners.


29. Use acronyms and mnemonic. This is helpful to remember things like the reactivity series.


30. Sticky notes. These can be stuck on your walls so you are constantly looking at them.


31. Keep your room/study space clean. If it's not clean you can't focus.


32. Highlighting key points. Learn the basics first.


33. Read notes out loud. Better than reading them in your head.


34. Stop procrastinating. Just get it done.


35. Listen in class. If you do he work in class there is less work that needs to be done at home.
