Whether you're trying to save money or eat healthier pre-made lunches are a great way to go but sandwiches everyday can become boring so here are some ideas for a tasty lunch.
The Lunchbox Itself
There are many different option when considering buying a lunchbox ranging for cheaper plastic ones to the metal ones but any standard lunch box will do don't feel the need to go out sand buy an expensive branded box, as long as it is secure it matters very little.
1. Pasta salads/ Flavoured Pastas
This can include tomato pasta, pasta bakes, pesto pasta, tuna pasta and much more. The ingredients depending on your likes. Many recipes available online and pasta can be eaten cold so no microwave required if your work does not have this option.
2. Sandwiches
Ahh... an old classic the basic sandwich easy to prepare quick to make and little ingredients require so generally cheap. The contents can be as simple or complex as wanted, my favourite filling often including ham. Again more filling ideas online depending on your needs.
3. Bagels
Again another timeless favourite but often possesses more flavour than the basic sandwhich and more suited to breakfast too. Cinnamon or seeded there are many different combinations that make this interesting.
4. Salad bowls
Obviously a healthier option easy to cater to all different types of dietary requirements. Thi scan be as complex as you make it or simple. Add sauces or spices for extra flavour, salad dressing can take away nutritional value but massively improve a salad.
5. Rice bowls
Rice bowls like this one can be simple and packed with energy. I like to add vegetables to my rice such as broccoli, peas or corn. The rice bowl can be enjoyed cold or reheated I prefer it reheated but as a college student don't have this option.
6. Soup
Soup comes in many flavours and can either be reheated in a microwave or kept warm in a thermos or some metal bottles. Soup is generally easy to make and quite hassle free so makes the perfect fit for someone who has little cooking skills or has a limited budget or time.
7. Noodles
Noodles are unique because there are so many types of noodles and different ways to prepare. Often I like to add a fried egg into mine but when at college generally stick with chicken and vegetables such as shredded carrot spring onions and beansprouts.
8. Wraps
Another basic classic, really takes me back to primary school I has these almost everyday for lunch. Now I add whatever meat or vegetables I want and make them different each day. Also interesting to try the recently popular beetroot wraps with a distinct purple/red colouring.
9. Cereal
Last but not least... cereal. Now I know its not the most common lunch time food and personally I use it as more of a snack but I absolutely love cereal at all times of the day. A nice bowl of crunchy cornflakes what could be better so if you have a fridge at your disposal at your place of work then stick a pint of milk in there bring a box and enjoy!
